Christopher John Sansom received popularity as a British historical crime writer. Born in 1952 in Edinburgh, he received an education at the University of Birmingham. He practised law in Sussex and thereafter gave up his career to become a full-time writer. Sansom lives in Sussex. His novels Dominion (2012) and Winter in Madrid (2006) received extensive recognition. The Crime Writer’s Association (CWA) awarded him the Ellis Peters Historical Dagger in 2005 for his Dark Fire publication. Dominion also received the Sidewise Award for Alternate History. Although Scottish born, Sansom expressed his dismay to individuals who support the Scottish Independence drive.
