Review and Summary of the Novel Divergent

***Warning Spoilers Below This Point***

When children turn sixteen years old, they examine them to decide which group suit their personalities. However, they allowed to choose their group at the naming ceremony and those who don’t choose one, become Factionless and live abandoned. Beatrice Prior is the main character who belongs to an Abnegation Family but her test results pointed her as Divergent. However, worried about her future, she joins Dauntless.

Four, who is her instructor, tells her that only the top ten successful initiates will remain in Dauntless while the others will become Factionless. Here, Beatrice (Tris) experiences a lot of thrilling exams, for example, using guns and knives, training to combat, facing hallucinations of her worries and a fear landscape test to remain in Dauntless.

She is a different girl with diverging abilities, and so she wants to find her faction. She also falls into a relationship with Four who is her instructor. Tris ranks first at the initiation ceremony. All the initiates injected serum that hypnotises them to attack Abnegations, but Tris and Tobias (Four) remain unaffected because of their divergent abilities.

Final Say on The Novel Divergent

Veronica Roth surely created an excellent plot, and the storyline remains unique. Tris is the girl who lives in a divided society, but she is different and wishes to join her group. The novel describes her efforts to fit into society.

I exceptionally enjoyed reading the book. Tris is a strong character who loves Four, but the book focuses on her family and friends as well. It provides a holistic insight into Tris’s life. I rated it as 9 out of 10 because of the unique, strong and interesting storyline the novel presents.
