The novel Gun, with Occasional Music, is based on the adventurous stories of Conrad Metcalf. He is a young, tough and smart private detective. The story revolves around the future of San Francisco and Oakland, California. The super detective Metcalf is hired by a man who thinks that for the murder of a famous urologist, this person is getting framed as a murderer. Metcalf starts detecting the case and as he studies the case and goes into the details, he finds very interesting facts about the case.
He discovers that no one is interested in finding the truth of the murder and no one wants to solve the case. Not even the wife of the person who was killed, neither the police and nor the gun-toting kangaroo who actually works for the mafia boss.
As we further go into the details of the story of Gun, With Occasional Music, many adventures and turns are waiting for us. Overall it is a complex novel, due to which it has got my rating of 7.2/10. Since the story is a little different as compare to our daily readings, it is an interesting read. I would highly recommend this novel to people who are fond of Science Fiction and Hardboiled Detective Fiction. Would I re-read this novel? No. Am I glad I read it? Yes.
