John Maher, a writer from Dublin, received attention as a lecturer in Near Eastern Languages. He practised his career in the Department of Middle East and Mediterranean Studies at King’s College, London. His own research focused on reactive nationalism in Ireland, Israel and Palestine. On the background of his interest in political and social dynamics, he published several books and academic works. Also, Maher’s novels, A Short History of Darkness and When the Sun Bursts (2014) received extensive recognition and popularity.
