Kōshun Takami (1969) or Koushun Takami received popularity as a Japanese author and journalist. He received recognition for his book named Battle Royale (1999) which also transformed into two live-action film scripts. Takami born in Amagasaki spent his childhood in Kagawa Prefecture of Shikoku. He graduated at Osaka University majoring in literature but left the Nihon University liberal arts program. He worked at the Shikoku Shimbun news company and recounted on economics and politics. Battle Royale only became completed after he left Shikoku Shimbun. The novel became controversial because of its violent content where young high school children kill each other. After the publication thereof in 1999, it received extensive popularity.
