Nancy Farmer (1941) received recognition as a well known American author. She focuses on the publication of children and young adult books in the science fiction environment, mostly. Farmer received the U.S. National Book Award for Young People’s Literature after the publication of her The House of the Scorpion novel (2002). She completed her B.A. degree at Reed College (1963). Farmer also joined the University of California to complete her studies in entomology and chemistry. Some of her books include A New Year’s Tale (2013), The Lord of Opium (2013) and The Sea of Trolls Trilogy (2004-2009). She also published several picture and short storybooks.
