Robert Marcus, the main lead of this novel is a young guy in the 23rd century where there’s just one thing acceptable i.e. homosexuality and what turns his life around is his feelings for Liza. They develop affections for each other but it was something unacceptable for the society they live in.
After trying to hide their feelings and denying things they finally give up and somehow gathers the courage to marry in secret. It was still not something they could disclose to the world, but they were happy about it. But the twist happens when Liza finds it difficult to share him with anyone else or try to abandon him. He decides to go back to live a normal life in front of the world.
He chooses Jacob Stein to be his partner and asks him for a date. Jacob is a retired police offer and on their first date, he died. This is where the mystery begins whether he died a natural death or murder. Police investigations discover the real cause of his death and the story becomes interesting.
It’s a romantic story with a love of fiction and suspense. Rafael tries to explain how an extreme approach to anything can be troublesome. The book focuses on the freedom of decision-making in a complex world.
Rafael Grugman expressed his words and message meaningfully. How he explains the denial of the heterosexual philosophy in future creates a problem and puts people in trouble for following their heart. It’s a very good read if you like to think from different perspectives. I have given it an 8 out of 10 and I enjoyed reading it.
