Review, Synopsis, and Summary of the Young Adult Fiction Legend

The novel Legend written by an American writer Marie Lu is the first book of a trilogy inspired by a Movie ‘’Les Miserable’’. She tried to prefabricate two main characters of this movie in a teenage version, Day and June. Both of them carry different characters brought up in different economic realities but later fall in love with each other. If you are a science fiction lover, then this book is surely a must-read for you.

Review and Summary of the Novel Legend

***Warning Spoilers Below This Point***

The story revolves around Day and June, two teenagers living in different economic conditions. June is born into a family possessing a great and genius military background. Brought up by her elder brother, she ranks first in the trial conducted to determine her role in society.  Whereas Day is a criminal born in the slums. Everyone thinks him dead in his family except his brother John. Later on, he comes to know that his younger brother is suffering from a serious disease.

Day kills June’s brother in a fight that occurred in the City hospital when he was stealing medicines for his brother. June comes to know about her brother’s death and his murderer. Now, the only motive of June’s life is to catch Day. She traps Day by making a promise to provide a cure for Eden’s disease. Later in the novel, after some incidents, June and Day develop a love for each other but still reports about him and his family. Day’s mother was killed, and they arrested him by June’s commander.

Later on, June discovered that Day also received good grades in the trial, but they manipulated his result. They abandoned him in a labour camp where he learned about several realities about Plague, Thomas and Commander. Subsequently, June also realised the reality and planned to escape with Day during the riot. She then escapes to the colonies.
