Ernest Cline’s debut novel Ready Player One is a story of a young teenage guy named Wade Watts, who is a protagonist. The story revolves in the future of the year 2045 which is a time of energy crises, global warming and overpopulation. It’s a story of power hunt, finding ways to treasures and building fortunes. It’s a dystopian fiction novel which is beyond excitement and virtual world. Ernest Cline is praised a lot for writing such an intricate novel which is worth your time.

Synopsis and Summary of the Dystopian Novel Ready Player One

Wade Watts also known as Parzival, is a young guy and the main character of this novel based in Oklahoma City with his aunt. Wade belongs to an underprivileged background and on a hunt to find the “Easter Egg” which he considers to be a key to all his problems and successes. He enjoys online games, movies, artists and in fact, everything related to the virtual world and sooner his hunt to finding the 3 keys started.

While he obtains the keys while meeting new artists and players along the way, he started to become popular and enjoys the hype. But fame comes with its consequences in the virtual world. Nolan Sorrento who was the head of operations at Innovative Online Industries (IOI) who owned a multinational company heard about Wade and started to resent him. Nolan and his company also decided to participate in the Easter Egg search and they realised Wade obtained the achievement before them. He even tried to kill him but luckily Wade survived and escaped to Ohio.

While on his journey to reach the Easter egg, Wade acquired many keys and powers to fight with his enemies and finally, he made it to the end. At the final battle, Nolan and IOI aimed to take out their revenge on Wade but he successfully defeats them.

Final Say on the Dystopian Novel Ready Player One

I personally rated the story a 9 out of 10  for the message provided in this novel. Ernest Cline wrote this novel aimed at the virtual world enthusiasts and scavengers game followers. This novel presents the story of a young guy, who struggles and battles to make it to the top. This battle of a young virtual world geek presents a highly interesting and fascinating reading. The book provides significant insight into the life of an online player. Will, I read this novel again? Absolutely Yes, because after reading it I gained insight into the reasons why the book became significantly popular.
