The story of Snow Crash revolves around the Hiro Protagonist who is a pizza delivery guy working for the mafia as well as a hacker. Hiro meets Yours Truly (Y.T) who is a young skateboard courier. She calls herself as a third person. In the events that follow Hiro fails in delivering on time, hence Yours Truly completes this delivery on behalf of Hiro. This leads to a partnership between these two where they gather the intel and deliver it to CIC which is an organization formed due to a merger of the CIA and Library of Congress.
Meanwhile, Hiro is given a data file named Snow Crash by Raven. Raven also hints Hiro that this data file is about a form of narcotic. Interestingly Hiro’s friend Da5id views a Bitmap image in the file given to Hiro, and his computer crashes and he experiences brain damage in reality. Later Hiro meets his ex-girlfriend Juanita Marquez who provides him with a database of research that will help him in generating a connection between virus, ancient Sumerian culture, and legend of Tower of Babel. She also tells Hiro to remain extra careful.
The story unfolds as the Mafia Boss Enzo starts liking Yours Truly because of her attitude and intelligence and offers her freelance jobs. The investigation skills of Hiro and intelligence skills of Y.T coincide and they get to link between neuro-linguistic viruses which are a religious organization. When working on Juanita’s research, they find out that there is an ancient Sumerian ur-language which allows the programming of brain function in a way that audio stimulus conjunct with viruses altering DNA. They also found out that old Sumerian cultures were based around these programs and their priests used to administer these.
Enki, a person in the legend, was able to develop a counter virus which stopped the procession of Sumerian language by the brain and developed the ability of procession of less literal languages. Now L. Bob Rife was able to collect Sumerian artifacts and develop a drug known as Snow Crash. This drug is a newer version of that virus and the public is vulnerable to it. The virus is distributed in people in the form of infected blood and addictive drug. A digital version of this virus is also present.
In the events that lead Hiro finally neutralize the virus and reconciles with Juanita. Rife gets killed and Raven gets injured. Yours Truly, however, is reunited with her mother.
