Terence Dean Brooks (1944) received popularity as an American book writer. Brooks focuses on fantasy action, reading material, mostly. He published over 23 New York Times best novels in his career. He remains one of the largest fantasy writers in the world. Born in the rural Midwestern town of Sterling, Illinois, he spent a significant part of his life in the area. He completed his English literature degree in 1966 and later joined Washington and Lee University. He first worked in the legal environment before he became a full-time book writer. Brooks wrote The Sword of Shannara (1977) and started with the publication of Magic Kingdom of Landover novels in 1986 that remained ongoing. He allocated time to write The Heritage of Shannara (1990-1993) before he returned to writing his Landover books again.
