Review and Summary of Science Fiction Novel The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch

***Warning Spoilers Below This Point***

The Three Stigmata

This science fiction story describes a future world where global temperatures increased so high people cannot stay outside. People make special arrangements to cool down in order to spend time in the sun. The United Nations became desperate to save humanity and control the population. Hence, the UN starts the draft to colonise nearby planets.

The conditions in these planets became primitive and unwillingly the first colonists received the task to colonise these areas. They became involved in illegal drug abuse, Can-D and layouts. The colonists use Layouts to start an alternate reality where life might be easier. They take them to transform from a bitter reality to a better world.

On earth, global warming reached a level where people visit Antarctica to attend holidays. Can-D helps people in sharing their experience with the layout of Perky Pat. Because of this sharing, a pseudo-religious cult developed. Can-D becomes banned in New York City, but this product gains a monopoly. United Nations finds habitable planets and places near Earth.

In these circumstances, a Palmer Eldritch ship crashes on Pluto. Different events take place in the book and people try to adapt to the new environment.
